This is a homophonic
arrangement of the hymntune Mendon. Peninger
has set three stanzas of the hymn. Settings one and three are four-part
harmony and stanza two is a two-part setting written in the treble clef;
the upper part is to be sung by upper female voices and the lower one
to be sung by cambiatas and/or lower female voices. When sung by
choirs with changing voices, it should be rated as
medium-difficult. This work is suitable for a church service, choral festival or choir contest.
